Blac Chyna: 'I was devastated' by Rob Kardashian's explicit posts

Blac Chyna says she was "devastated" after ex-fiancé Rob Kardashian targeted her in a series of explicit posts last week.

The 29-year-old reality star spoke out on Monday's episode of Good Morning America after Kardashian shared naked photos of her July 5 on Instagram after accusing her of cheating.

"I was devastated, of course. I was like, how could somebody post these pictures of me?" Blac Chyna told ABC News correspondent Linsey Davis. "This is a person I trusted. I just felt betrayed."
Kardashian shared the private photos with his millions of followers after claiming Blac Chyna slept with "multiple men" while they were together. He also posted a video the star sent him of her kissing another man in bed.

"I've been broken up with Rob since December," Blac Chyna explained. "It's like, if somebody keeps poking at you and poking at you and poking at you, and keep poking at you, eventually you're going to pop. I was just like, 'Maybe if I send this video to him, then he'll just leave me alone.'"

Blac Chyna's lawyer, Lisa Bloom, confirmed in the interview that the star will file a restraining order against Kardashian on Monday. Bloom called Kardashian's actions "revenge porn" and "a form of domestic violence" in a tweet last week.

"I talked to Rob about everything," Blac Chyna told Davis. "The moral of the story is, like, he doesn't respect me. So if you can't respect me, you have to respect the law."

Blac Chyna and Kardashian got engaged in April 2016 after three months of dating, and welcomed their first child, daughter Dream, in November. The star said Kardashian's family, including Kim Kardashian, hasn't reached out to her since Kardashian's rant.

Alcohol in pregnancy may have transgenerational effects

A new study by the University of California Riverside suggests drinking alcohol during pregnancy will not only affect the unborn child but also future generations of children.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued numerous warnings over the years about the dangers of alcohol consumption during pregnancy, which can lead to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, or FASD.

In spite of the warnings, many women still drink alcohol during pregnancy. But a new study, published July 6 in Cerebral Cortex, has found that alcohol can affect the unborn baby, and also future grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Previous studies have shown that prenatal alcohol exposure, or PrEE, affects the anatomy of the neocortex, the region of the brain responsible for complex behavior and cognition in humans, and can cause abnormal motor behavior and increased anxiety in offspring.

"Traditionally, prenatal ethanol exposure [PrEE] from maternal consumption of alcohol, was thought to solely impact directly exposed offspring, the embryo or fetus in the womb," Kelly Huffman, psychology professor at the University of California, Riverside, said in a press release. "However, we now have evidence that the effects of prenatal alcohol exposure could persist transgenerationally and negatively impact the next-generations of offspring who were never exposed to alcohol."

Researchers generated a mouse model of FASD and tested brain and behavioral development over three generations finding atypical gene expression, abnormal development of the neural network in the neocortex and behavioral deficits in the directly exposed first generation.

The study also revealed that the non-exposed subsequent generations of mice had neurodevelopmental and behavioral problems similar to those directly exposed to alcohol.

"We found that body weight and brain size were significantly reduced in all generations of PrEE animals when compared to controls; all generation of PrEE mice showed increased anxiety-like, depressive-like behaviors and sensory-motor deficits. By demonstrating the strong transgenerational effects of prenatal ethanol exposure in a mouse model of FASD, we suggest that FASD may be a heritable condition in humans," Huffman said.

Delays in emergency surgery linked to higher risk of death

A recent study by University of Ottawa found delays in emergency surgery were linked to a higher risk of death for patients in the hospital.

The delays are often due to a lack of operating rooms, staff and other system issues according to the study published July 10 in the Canadian Medical Association Journal.

"Delays in emergency surgeries are a problem around the world," Dr. Alan Forster, a senior scientist at The Ottawa Hospital and professor at the University of Ottawa in Ontario, said in a press release
"This study adds to the evidence suggesting timely access to the [operating room] is important from both the patient and care provider perspectives. Given that there are no universal standards for the time frame a patient with urgent needs should get into surgery, we set an aggressive scale for the different grades of urgency."

Researchers analyzed 15,160 emergency surgery patients at The Ottawa Hospital and found that nearly 19 percent did not have surgery within the time frame based on the different grades of urgency.

Reasons for delays included staffing and operating room availability.

"We found that most delays were due to system issues, like physician, nurse and operating room unavailability," Dr. Daniel McIsaac, an associate scientist at The Ottawa Hospital and assistant professor at the University of Ottawa, said.

"Improving personnel availability may improve access without increasing costs [at least from a hospital perspective]. Furthermore, the increased resources required to have adequate nursing personnel and physical resources should be partially offset by decreased hospital costs independently attributed to surgical delay."

Fire engulfs building in London's Camden Market

A large fire broke out at London's Camden Market Sunday night.

"Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters have been called to reports of a fire in #Camden Lock Market," the London Fire Brigade tweeted.

All three floors and a roof of one building was alight, the LFB said and urged all people to stay away from the area. The building contained several businesses.

"Crews worked hard to get the fire under control and to stop it from spreading to neighboring buildings." said Station Manager David Reid.

The LFB said it was able to get the fire under control during the early morning hours in London. There have not been any reports of injuries.

"Police were called on Monday at 12.10am to Camden Lock Market to reports of a fire," said a Metropolitan Police spokesperson. "London Fire Brigade were already at the scene when officers arrived. It is unknown at this stage if any persons are injured, we await update."

"I was just passing by when I saw the fire and they started to get firefighters and police, it was all very fast," witness Joan Ribes, 24 told the Telegraph.

Florida man tries to open exit door on flight to China, gets hit with wine bottle

A Florida man allegedly tried to open the emergency exit door on a flight to China on July 6

A Florida man caused chaos when he tried to open the exit door on a plane mid-flight, but a flight attendant hit him with a wine bottle as several passengers helped restrain him.

The FBI charged Joseph Daniel Hudek IV, a 23-year-old man from Tampa, Fla., with interfering with a flight crew after the incident, which occurred on a flight going from Seattle to Beijing, China.

Hudek was traveling first class and ordered one beer before the plane departed. Shortly after, while the plane was in the air, he went to the restroom, came out to ask a flight attendant a question, and then returned to the restroom. Two minutes later, he again exited the restroom and then ran towards an emergency exit door and attempted to open it.

Two flight attendants tried to stop Hudek, but he pushed them away as he tried to lift the handle on the door. The flight attendants asked passengers for help, but Hudek fought them off, too, and hit one male passenger in the head with a desert wine bottle.

A flight attendant then grabbed a 1-liter bottle of wine and hit Hudek on the head.

"Do you know who I am?" Hudek allegedly said after getting smacked with the bottle.

He "did not seem impacted by the breaking of a full-liter red wine bottle over his head," the FBI complaint states.

Hudek continued to fight back, but more passengers got involved and eventually subdued the unruly man and he was restrained with zip-ties.

During the return to Seattle, Hudek "remained extremely combative, and multiple passengers were needed to restrain Hudek and keep him restrained until the plane landed safely," according to the complaint.

Hudek faces 20 years in prison for the incident.

United States to conduct test of THAAD missile defense system

The U.S. Department Department Missile Defense Agency announced plans to conduct a new test of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system.

Missile Defense Agency spokesman Chris Johnson said an exact date for the THAAD test will not be disclosed, but is expected some time in the coming days.

The weapon system, housed at the Pacific Spaceport Complex Alaska in Kodiak, Alaska, is part of the United States' missile defense system designed to intercept and destroy ballistic missiles during flight.
THAAD is able shoot down short, medium and intermediate ballistic missiles and the test will have the system attempt to detect, track and engage a target with an interceptor missile.

Lockheed Martin said each THAAD system features five key components that include interceptors, launchers, a radar, a fire control unit and support equipment.

Oncoming missiles are detected by THAAD's radar, allowing individuals manning the system to identify the threat. A launcher attached to a truck then fires a projectile, known as an interceptor, to destroy the ballistic missile with kinetic energy.

A DOD official said the impending test is not related to North Korea's launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile on Tuesday.

In May the Pentagon successfully shot down a mock ballistic missile in a test of its ground-based intercept system.

Pope Francis replaces powerful Cardinal Mueller

Pope Francis has replaced Gerhard Ludwig Mueller, who was Vatican's doctrinal chief who handled sex abuse cases, with the cardinal's deputy.

On Saturday, Francis named Archbishop Luis Ladaria, 73, to succeed conservative Mueller as the Vatican's doctrine chief with Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith

On Thursday, the pope granted another conservative, Cardinal George Pell, a leave of absence to return to his native Australia to face trial on sexual assault charges.
The Vatican statement said the pope thanked Mueller "at the end of his quinquennial mandate as prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and president of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, the Pontifical Biblical Commission and the International Theological Commission."

Mueller and Pell were among the most powerful in the Vatican under the Vatican secretary of state, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.

Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI had named Mueller, a fellow German countryman, to lead the Doctrine of the Faith in 2012. Mueller previously served for 10 years as the bishop of the southeastern German diocese of Regensburg.

The five-year term of Mueller, who turned 70 in December, ends this weekend. The normal retirement age for bishops is 75.

During Mueller's tenure, the sex abuse caseload has piled up. Last year, Francis confirmed the backlog was 2,000 cases.

Mueller opposed Francis' 2016 document on family life, "The Joy of Love," in which he was open to letting divorced and civilly remarried Catholics receive Communion.

Mueller didn't join a campaign by four conservative cardinals attacking the pope's document as vague and confusing and publicly requesting Francis clarify it. Mueller defended the document, saying it actually doesn't allows Communion for these Catholics because church tradition simply could not permit it.

But in an interview in May with EWTN when asked about the matter, the cardinal stated: "We don't accept polygamy."

Mueller also said that it is "not possible" for women to be ordained to the diaconate and that female deacons "will not come."

Ladaria, a Spanish Jesuit, was appointed to lead a commission to study whether women could be deacons in the church. Benedict named Ladaria as secretary in the congregation in 2008, the second-highest position in the congregation.

Navy destroyer sails near disputed island claimed by China

The USS Stethem, a U.S. Navy destroyer, sailed Sunday within 12 miles of a disputed island in the South China Sea claimed by China, a U.S. official said.

The Sethem approached the Triton Island in the 30-island Paracel archipelago, which are also claimed by Vietnam and Taiwan. The Paracel Islands are known as the Xisha Islands in China and the Hoang Sa Archipelago in Vietnam.

The standard international boundary extending offshore from all nations is 12 nautical miles.

The United States does not recognize Beijing's claim of sovereignty over the islands.

Lt. Cmdr. Matt Knight, a spokesman for the U.S. Pacific Fleet, told CNN the Navy conducted a "freedom of navigation exercise" around the island as a routine part of U.S. Navy operations.

Knight said it was an innocent passage, which generally allows for a ship to pass through the territorial waters of another country.

"The United States will fly, sail and operate wherever international law allows," he told USA Today. He added the exercises "are not about any one country, nor are they about making political statements."

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement the U.S. "trespassed" and it sent "military vessels and fighter planes in response to warn off the US vessel."

China called the action "a serious political and military provocation."

On May 24, the guided-missile destroyer USS Dewey sailed within 12 miles of Mischief Reef in the Spratly Islands chain, which lies to the south of the Paracels.

Last week, President Donald Trump's administration sanctioned Chinese entities doing business with North Korea and approved a new arms sale to Taiwan.

The Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative, said in a report Thursday China is continuing to build up infrastructure on three islands in the Spratly chain: Fiery Cross, Mischief and Subi reefs.

The initiative, which is part of Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies, said that recent satellite imagery shows China "remains committed to developing its power projection capabilities."

Adm. Harry Harris, the top U.S. military commander in the Pacific, said in a speech last week in Australia that Beijing was using "fake islands" to build up a military and strategic advantage.

"China is altering physical and political landscapes by creating and militarizing man-made bases," Harris said. "Fake islands should not be believed by real people."

In April, the Navy announced the Stethem, an Arleigh Burke-class, guided-missile destroyer, was conducting routine operations in the South China Sea.

"Conducting these types of operations with our allies builds proficiency and sustains our ability to maintain a persistent presence throughout the 7th Fleet area of operations," Command Senior Chief William Palmer IV said at the time.

During operations, Stethem has regularly communicated with naval vessels from the People's Republic of China, the U.S. Navy said.

The ship, commissioned in 1995, is named after Steelworker Second Class Robert Dean Stethem, who was killed by Hezbollah terrorists during the hijacking of the commercial airliner he was aboard, TWA Flight 847, in 1985.

The 505-foot-long ship has 26 officers and 315 enlisted crew members, according to a ship fact sheet.

Xi tells Trump 'some negative factors' affecting China, U.S. relations

China's President Xi Jinping told U.S. President Donald Trump "some negative factors" have affected relations during a telephone call after a contentious week.

The leaders' call comes after a tense week between Beijing and Washington, D.C., in which the United States approved a $1.4 billion arms sale to Taiwan, the U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions on China's Bank of Dandong for alleged connection to North Korea's nuclear weapons program and the U.S. Navy's USS Stethem destroyer sailed within 12 miles of a disputed island in the South China Sea claimed by China.

Xi and Trump's call on Sunday comes after the pair held a summit in April after which Trump said they developed "a very good relationship."

"Xi Jinping stressed that since his meeting with President Trump, important results have been achieved in China-U.S. relations," Chinese state media outlet CCTV reported. "Meanwhile, bilateral relations have also been affected by some negative factors, for which the China side has expressed its position to the U.S. side."

China's foreign ministry on Sunday criticized the U.S. Navy destroyer's operation near the island, calling the incident a "serious political and military provocation" that "violates China's sovereignty and puts at risk China's security," Chinese state media outlet Xinhua reported.

In a statement, the White House said the leaders discussed a range of issues in which there is mutual interest, such as North Korea and trade relations.

Lat week, the U.S. State Department declared China as among the world's worst offenders in human trafficking and forced labor, joining a 23-nation list that includes Iran, North Korea, Syria and Russia.

At least 18 people were reported dead and several others injured in a trio of suicide car bombings in the Syrian capital, Damascus.

Syrian state television confirmed one bomber detonated early Sunday at Tahrir Square, near Bab Touma in central Damascus, after being surrounded by pro-government Syrian security forces, while the other two were pursued and detonated by security forces on the road to the Damascus airport.

State TV confirmed eight deaths and 13 injuries from the attacks, while the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 18 people were killed, including seven members of the Syrian security forces, three attackers, and two civilians. The remaining victims were not identified by the group.

More than 40% of White House staffers are making more than $100,000 per year under President Trump, the AP reports. That includes 22 aides—Sean Spicer, Steve Bannon, Reince Priebus, Kellyanne Conway, and Omirosa Manigault, among them—making the max White House salary of $179,700. According to the Washington Post, two former Microsoft and Goldman Sachs executives are making the lowest possible salary of $30,000. And Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump aren't taking home a salary at all.

One staffer, senior policy advisor Mark House, is actually making $187,100 because he's technically employed by the FAA. The number of top-paid staffers is mostly in line with the Obama administration. The White House released salary details Friday as has been required by law since 1995.

Pacquiao Stripped of Title in a Stunner

Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines waves to his supporters after his loss to Jeff Horn of Australia, during their WBO World Welterweight title fight in Brisbane, Australia, Sunday, July 2, 2017.

It went all the way and ended in a contentiously bitter loss, the opposite of the outcome Manny Pacquiao's handlers predicted for his WBO welterweight world title fight against Jeff Horn. Pacquiao's long-time trainer Freddie Roach tipped a "short and sweet" knockout win for the 11-time world champion in Sunday's so-called Battle of Brisbane, but Horn got a unanimous points decision in his first world title fight—delighting the 51,000-strong crowd at his hometown Suncorp Stadium, a record for Australian boxing. The 38-year-old Philippines senator arrived in Brisbane a week ahead of the fight with a chartered plane carrying more than a hundred supporters and as the hot favorite to beat Horn, reports the AP. He leaves without the WBO belt. All three judges awarded it to Horn, with Waleska Roldan scoring it 117-111 and both Chris Flores and Ramon Cerdan scoring it 115-113.

Some critics slammed it as a hometown decision, saying statistics had Pacquiao landing twice the number of power punches as Horn. "That's the decision of the judges. I respect that," Pacquiao was quoted as saying by ESPN. "We have a rematch clause, so no problem." But Pacquiao's conditioning trainer, former Australian heavyweight Justin Fortune, was critical of the referee and the judging. "Manny lost the fight, but Jeff Horn looks like a pumpkin. Those scores, that card? It should be the other way," he said. Roach had said earlier in the week that he'd think about advising Pacquiao to retire if he lost the fight, but they're already considering a rematch. Pacquiao's camp had talked about a rematch with Mayweather if he got past Horn, hoping to avenge his loss on points in the 2015 mega fight. That seems to be a distant chance now.

President Trump: No, I Won't Stop Tweeting

(BRIDGEWATER, N.J.) — President Donald Trump escalated an intensely personal feud with two high-profile talk show hosts Saturday, suggesting without evidence that their network is biased against him.
The president's stream of insults has pained politicians from both parties who have appealed to him, without apparent success, to stop the 140-character bursts of character attacks and focus on running the country. Saturday evening, Trump was at it again.
Trump lashed out at Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, co-hosts of MSNBC's "Morning Joe," on Twitter earlier Saturday. From his New Jersey golf club, he said: "Crazy Joe Scarborough and dumb as a rock Mika are not bad people, but their low rated show is dominated by their NBC bosses."
Trump also said that Greta Van Susteren lost her nightly show on MSNBC because she "refused to go along w/ 'Trump hate!'" MSNBC confirmed this week that Van Susteren, previously a longtime anchor at Fox News, was being replaced.
NBC declined comment on all the tweets Saturday from the president. "Morning Joe" just finished the highest-rated quarter in the show's history. MSNBC never officially gave a reason for replacing Van Susteren's show; it did, however, lag in the ratings compared with the network's other shows.
Later in the day, Trump renewed his screed against the media.
"The FAKE & FRAUDULENT NEWS MEDIA is working hard to convince Republicans and others I should not use social media - but remember, I won the 2016 election with interviews, speeches and social media. I had to beat #FakeNews, and did. We will continue to WIN!" Trump said on Twitter.
And he said he was thinking about "changing the name of #FakeNewsCNN to #FraudNewsCNN."
Trump drew broad condemnation for his tweets on Thursday calling Brzezinski "crazy" and saying she was "bleeding badly from a face-lift" when he saw them at his Florida estate. The comment was decried as sexist and vulgar by many Democrats and Republicans.
The MSNBC personalities said Friday that Trump was lying about their December encounter and they questioned his "unhealthy obsession" with their program. The hosts, who are a couple onscreen and off, also said the White House told them a damaging National Enquirer story about their relationship would "go away" if they called the president and apologized for harsh commentary. Trump quickly disputed the claim on Twitter.
Trump's continued focus on cable television comes as Republicans are struggling to find agreement on a health care overhaul, a key promise from the president and GOP lawmakers. And Trump is heading to the annual Group of 20 meeting this week, where he will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, a high-stakes encounter that could put Trump's "America First" policy to the test.
Trump also tweeted angrily at CNN on Saturday, saying the network, which he has long pilloried, "has finally been exposed as #FakeNews and garbage journalism."CNN recently accepted the resignations of three employees involved in a retracted story about a supposed investigation into a pre-inaugural meeting between a Trump associate and the head of a Russian investment fund. The network had no comment on Saturday's tweet.
