Memela praises Pirates coaching team

(
Cape Town - Orlando Pirates forward Luvuyo Memela has hailed the influence of head coach Milutin Sredojevic and his assistant Rhulani Mokwena in helping him to produce his best form.

The player was the destroyer in chief as he bagged a superb brace in last Saturday's 3-1 victory over Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto derby.

Thus far in 2017/18, the 30-year-old has contributed five strikes to the Sea Robbers attack and has become an invaluable member of the squad.

After Thembinkosi Lorch opened the scoring against Chiefs, Leonardo Castro equalised for the Glamour Boys. Second-half substitute Memela then stole the show as he scored twice in the second 45 minutes.

The Cape Town-born star nearly quit football earlier in his career, however, he worked his way up to the top after spells with Hanover Park, Chippa United and Cape Town All Stars in the National First Division.

"Working with coach Micho and Rhulani has been an honour. You always want to play for coaches that will push you.

"They have taught us about other positions and not to be scared to play... also to score more goals by dodging the offside trap because most PSL defenders are slow and they like to follow."
