DSF’s Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program develops academic physicians and scientists committed to research related to Dravet syndrome and associated ion channel epilepsies. The fellowship is intended to support a full-time research effort. Successful applicants receive a stipend of $50,000 over the 12 month award. The number of awards is contingent upon the availability of funds. Award funds are made to the institution in two payments for direct expenses of the fellow (salary and benefits). No indirect costs are provided. Submission of scientific and financial reports are due no later than 30 days after the completion of project.

Dravet Syndrome Foundation’s Scientific Advisory Board oversees our Research Grant Program and makes funding recommendations to DSF’s Board of Directors. Applications are reviewed once per year.

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP GRANT ELIGIBILITY

If you would like to apply for a DSF Postdoctoral Fellowship Grant, you must meet the following criteria:
  • Hold a Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Science, or equivalent degree.
  • Be a clinical or post-doctoral fellow at an appropriate institution before or by the start date of the fellowship.
  • Have an acceptable research plan directed towards the purpose of DSF’s research program
  • Have access to institutional resources to conduct the proposed research project.
  • Not have previously been awarded a DSF Post-Doctoral Research Training Fellowship.
  • Academic faculty holding the rank of Adjunct Professor, Research Assistant, Assistant or Associate Professor are not eligible, nor are graduate or medical students, medical residents, permanent government employees, or employees of private industry.
  • Individuals receiving a fellowship from another source are not eligible to receive DSF funding.
  • US Citizenship is not required.

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP GRANT GUIDELINES

Applications which do not include the following materials and meet the specified page limitations will be returned unprocessed, or will be deferred until a subsequent granting cycle:
1. Grant Application, foundhere
2. Letters of Support – Two letters of support are required; one letter of support from your direct supervisor/mentor and one letter of support from another senior investigator/clinician familiar with your expertise, experience, and potential.
3. Biographical Sketch, foundhere. Not to exceed 3 pages.
4. Project proposal. Not to exceed 6 pages. Must use Arial 11 or larger font.
